Alison Maria Krauss began her career in music as a child, winning local competitions at the age of 10. Her first recording was her first album at 14. She signed with Rounder Records in 1985 and released her first solo album in 1987. She was then invited to join Alison Krauss Union Station, which is the group she performs with. Her first album as a collective with this group came out in 1989.
