Tom Hanks

Tom Hanks-5-1024x767Hanks was reunited with Ron Howard in his next role, as Commander and Astronaut Jim Lovell in Apollo 13 (1995). The film was widely lauded by critics in addition to the performances of the entire ensemble (which comprised Kevin Bacon and Bill Paxton, Gary Sinise and Ed Harris), and Kathleen Quinlan. The film also received nine Academy Award nominations, winning two. Hanks then acted as Sheriff Woody in Disney/Pixar's computer-animated animated film Toy Story (1995). A year later, Hanks made his directorial debut with the musical comedy That Thing You Do! The story of the fall and the rise of a rock group. Hanks also performs the role of a music producer. The Time magazine's Richard Schickel described his performance as "charming" and the majority of people who reviewed the film agreed that Hanksacting performance made him one of the finest romantic comedy actors of the time.
