Tawny Kitaen
Julie Ellen "Tawny", Kitaen, was an American actress, model and media personality. She lived from May 7, 1961, until May 7, 2021. She started her career as a television actor, appearing in the television shows Malibu (1983), California Girls (1985). She also starred as Gwendoline, a comedienne in the Land of the Yik-Yak (both 1984) and Bachelor Party (1985). Kitaen received a lot of attention for her roles in several rock music videos, including Ratt's (1984) "Back for More", Whitesnake ?Ts ("Still of the Night") and Whitesnake's ("Is This Love") (all 1987). In the late 2000s, Kitaen was first seen on reality television series, such as Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew (2008) which focused on Kitaen's battle with substance abuse. Julie Kitaen was the youngest of three children, born in San Diego in 1961 to Linda Kitaen (nee Taylor) who was an actress and former beauty pageant contestant and Terry Kitaen who worked for an organization that made neon signs. Kitaen's mother is of Scottish and Irish heritage, and her father was Russian-Jewish descent. Kitaen was educated Jewish. [4][5] At the age of 12 years old, she began to utilize the nickname "Tawny", which she created on her own initiative. [6] As a child she suffered from dyslexia. This led her dropping out of Mission Bay High School. Seventeen years old, she was when she went to see Penny Frampton perform in Balboa Stadium. [9]
